I would like to think that I am a fairly versatile and experienced drummer, with a solid, driving style and that I can also play with finesse, subtlety and delicacy. I am based in the North West of England, but have played all over the UK with various bands and also in Europe. Blues and Soul are my favourite musical styles. I have played at some huge Blues Festivals and am able to adapt quickly to the needs of event organisers for main stages or playing venues on the trail circuit. I am also experienced at meeting the demands of the more formal approach needed for cabaret clubs, Working Mens / Political party clubs as well as Masonic Lodges and Corporate Functions. I love playing for parties & weddings. (Not just for the free food!) I do cover a wide variety of musical styles, obviously Blues and Soul, but can play Rock 'n' Roll, Pop music, 60's 70's 80's and the more modern chart material. Playing to a click track is no problem, if that is required. I have a range of drums and cymbals so that I am able to quickly create a sound for the Recording Studio and can work quickly in that environment. I also prides myself on having clean and reliable quality equipment so that I can arrive at a venue on time, set up with a minimum of fuss and achieve a good sound. To that end, I have invested heavily in top of the range professional equipment that I keep well maintained and regularly tune the drums (all 3 kits!) for their best sound. I use a good selection of percussion instruments, things like shakers, cowbell, woodblocks, tambourine to add lots of different sounds to his playing. Having played in Glam Rock bands, Caberet bands, Soul bands, Blues bands, Rock bands, I can manage most styles of playing and can play Strict Tempo Ballroom style as well. I can play to a half empty Pub or a 3000+ venue with equal conviction and have a lot of experience of Dep drumming and let downs. I can read drum music (although this might not be my greatest strength!) and have played at a number of clubs working with a resident organist backing the artistes. I would ultimately like to master Jazz music and am presently taking lessons for this and one day would love to play in a quality Country and Western band. |
